Aussie Broadband is having an unscheduled outage from around midday AEST in Victoria on its NBN network, showing outages can happen to any company, with reports its site and its own infrastructure is affected.
As was reported above, Aussie Broadband is to open a new office and call centre in West Australia, along with new fibre, but with all of the growth, issues can still happen.
At the time of publication, Aussie Broadband s Service Status page is showing four outages - an unscheduled one happening in Victoria, which is Aussie Broadband s home state, as well as emergency network maintenance in French s Forest, Sydney, degraded upload performance in Townsville, and some NBN issues in NSW due to recent major storms.

South Melbourne-based national broadband network retailer Tangerine Telecom has been ranked the country s eighth fastest growing firm in the 2021 Financial Times and Nikkei Asia high-growth companies Asia-Pacific list.
In a statement, the company said it had also been ranked the 39th fastest growing company in the Asia-Pac region.
The
rankings were done on the basis of compound annual growth rate of revenue between 2016 and 2019.
Tangerine, which was founded in 2013, says it has 75,000 customers and more than 100 staff. Managing director Andrew Branson said the Tangerine team was buoyed by the news and was looking forward to further growth opportunities in the coming months and years ahead.
Elon Musk’s Starlink To Offer Alternative High Speed Internet to Rural Australia
Rural and regional Australia may soon have high-speed internet after Elon Musk’s newest venture, Starlink Beta the early stages of SpaceX’s satellite broadband program came online in Australia, providing select remote and regional parts of the country with access to its high-speed satellite internet.
The service, currently in beta testing mode, is only available in rural areas of central Victoria and the southern tablelands region of New South Wales. However, the service looks set to become more widely available to other parts of Australia in mid to late 2021.

Aussie Broadband has revealed a temporary discount by NBN Co for new sign-ups to its fastest plans is driving some existing high-speed customers to switch providers to qualify for the cheaper price.
The consequence of NBN Co’s ‘Focus on Fast’ campaign was revealed by Aussie Broadband’s managing director Phillip Britt during an earnings update on Thursday afternoon.
Focus on Fast is the latest marketing campaign by NBN Co aimed at driving users onto higher speed plans, and sets wholesale costs the same for all speed tiers 100Mbps and above.

NBN Co has released its “Pricing Review 2021 Consultation Paper 1”, which the company says “seeks to deliver value, certainty and simplicity to the telecommunication industry and customers.”

If there’s one thing Australians know about the NBN, is that it has been a mess, or at least, it has been so in the past. A mess of connection types, speeds, plans, wholesale prices for amounts of data being too expensive for providers who want to offer the unlimited plans that consumers expect, and more.
