Astoria’s Buoy Beer and Pilot House Distilling Are Preparing for Growth Along the Columbia River Buoy is adding a 50-barrel, four-vessel brewhouse, while Pilot House is relocating and installing a 5,000-liter copper still. (Buoy, Beth Trelease) Buoy Beer is expanding its footprint on Astoria s historic Riverwalk. This last summer, the nearly 7-year-old brewery moved into the Astor Street building just across the path used by both pedestrians and a seasonal trolley from its pub and turned it into a giant drinking hall. Now the business is literally raising the roof on that structure in order to accommodate a new 50-barrel, four-vessel brewhouse along with more fermentation tanks.
