(WBRC) - From Huntsville to Montgomery, Etowah High School’s agriscience program is providing colorful flowers and plants all across the state. Small plants and flowers are making a huge difference in the lives of students and their community. Students aren’t just learning about how to cultivate plants, but also how to make a living for themselves. Coach Skyler Ray says he wants his students to understand agriscience, but more importantly have a skill set and be prepared to enter the workforce after graduation. The high school’s greenhouse is more than just a place to grow and care for plants.

UW WWAMI Faculty Members Receive Triple I Outstanding Mentor Awards | News

January 28, 2021 Two University of Wyoming WWAMI Medical Education Program faculty members recently received the Independent Investigative Inquiry (Triple I) Outstanding Mentor Award. Assistant Professor Danielle Bruns and Dr. Joseph McGinley, a radiologist specializing in musculoskeletal intervention and sports medicine from Casper, are the first University of Wyoming WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) instructors to receive the award. The Triple I scholarship requirement engages first-year University of Washington medical students across the WWAMI region in activities that foster the skills of lifelong learning that are essential for practicing physicians. At the completion of their Triple I projects, medical students nominate mentors to receive the Outstanding Mentor Award. A committee selects 10-12 mentors from around the five-state WWAMI region each year to receive the award.

Pickens County authorities investigating pharmacy burglaries Armed burglars are targeting pharmacies in metro Atlanta. PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. - Pickens County authorities are searching for criminals who stole narcotics from two pharmacies early Monday morning. Hannah Wise, public information officer for the Pickens County Sheriff s Office, said the three criminals used a crowbar to pry their way into the stores. They started at Bell s Family Pharmacy at 4:16 a.m. and stole narcotics. They knew exactly where the narcotics were so they could get in quickly and get out. The three then went seven miles south to Ball Ground Pharmacy, pried open the door with a crowbar, and stole more narcotics. Surveillance video shows them leaving in a white, older four-door car.
