Craven County Sheriff s looking for runaway teen

Deputies with the Craven County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public s help in finding a missing Asheville teenager.  Tyler Cole Lewis, 17, was last seen leaving the Methodist House on Old Airport Road in New Bern wearing a black coat, black pants, and a pair of black Air Jordan’s. Lewis is from Asheville and has been in contact with his social worker by phone. It is believed Lewis is in the Asheville area, according to the CCSO.  Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Tyler Cole Lewis is asked to contact Craven County Communications at 252-633-2357, the Craven County Sheriff’s Office at 252-636-6620, or your local law enforcement agency.

Craven sheriff s look for New Bern felon suspected of kidnapping

The Craven County Sheriff s Office are searching for a man accused of kidnapping and elderly abuse.  Rodney Cleon Gaskill Jr., 58, is described a 5 5 white male, 180 lbs, bald, with green eyes. His last known address is 3904 Brandywine Drive near Carolina Colours in James City.  Gaskill, a convicted felon, was recently released from prison in 2018 after serving four years for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury. He was placed on parole for the following year, which he violated and was sent back to jail before he was released again in Feb. 2020, according to the NCDPS.  Gaskill s arrest record dates back to 1984 when he was charged with DWI. He also has charges of resisting a public officer, assault on a policeman, three assault of a female, along with numerous other assault charges. 

New Bern man charged with meth, heroin possession

New Bern man charged with meth, heroin possession Deputies with the Craven County Sheriff s Office arrested a New Bern man on Saturday after they obtained a search warrant due to multiple citizen complaints.  The search warrant was listed for 120 Oakley Drive, just off of Old Cherry Point Road in James City.  Deputies along with the Sheriff’s Office Special Investigative Bureau and a Sheriff’s Office K-9 Deputy were searching the house when K-9 Nibbles alerted them to the presence of drugs in the home. Continuing the search, deputies recovered heroin, methamphetamine, illegal prescription medications and drug paraphernalia, according to a news release.
