JACKSONVILLE – He is excited to be back. Absolutely.
Gardner Minshew II said as much. But when meeting with media Wednesday while preparing to start at quarterback yet again for the Jaguars, he talked more about something else – that observers thoughts on the Jaguars chances Sunday don t matter.
Not to him. And not to his teammates. I wouldn t say there s a ton of pressure right now, Minshew said as the Jaguars (1-12) prepared to play the Baltimore Ravens (8-5) at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md., Sunday at 1 p.m.

I think the future can be bright for the Jags, just counting what is on the roster at this moment. We have some solid, young foundation pieces that – if they continue to grow – will lead this team back to relevance: running back James Robinson, wide receiver DJ Chark Jr., wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr., wide receiver Collin Johnson, defensive end Josh Allen, defensive end K Lavon Chaisson, linebacker Myles Jack, linebacker Joe Schobert, cornerback CJ Henderson, cornerback Tre Herndon, safety Daniel Thomas, safety Andrew Wingard and punter Logan Cooke (I am sure I missed some). That is quite a few names. I hope they take this team upward and I look forward to seeing what the future holds, not just with them, but more players on the way and new leadership. Go Jags!

I think the way this season has gone should raise a lot of questions about Khan s football knowledge. You often talk about how the national media doesn t know as much about this team as the people who follow it more closely. By this logic, nobody should know more about them than the people in the building (Khan/Caldwell/Marrone). But all three of them thought this team could compete this year when nobody outside of the team thought this would be the case. If Caldwell and Marrone knew what was coming this season (and it s hard to believe they didn t, especially based on your logic), then they somehow convinced Khan this team could be good. That doesn t bode well for the future of the Jags with Khan at the helm. This was a completely wasted season because he didn t realize this team would be bad when almost everyone else did.
