Today Ryan Terefenko and Tre Leclaire were named preseason All-Americans. Terefenko was a first-team pick, while Leclaire received the nod as an Honorable Mention. Should Terefenko end the season as a first-team All-American, he would be only the second player to achieve that distinction, after Ben Randall, who did it twice.
Ohio State was hitting its stride when the 2020 season shut down. The 5-2 Buckeyes finished off Notre Dame and approached the Big Ten schedule carrying an underdog mentality reminiscent of their 2017 NCAA Tournament run.
“The senior class was all in. We had 10 guys who were committed to finishing it out. The rest of the guys bought in. It was 10 guys all together on the same page,” says midfielder Ryan Terefenko. “It had that 2017 vibe of seniors who knew what needed to be done and do whatever it took to get there. That was the most connected team I’ve had in four years at Ohio State. The 2017 team was pretty close.”
I know, I said that I would do a B1G preview first, but we all need something to look forward to after what happened last night. So, here we go.
First up, is there going to be a season? No one knows. The Patriot League is optimistic, having dropped their spring schedule on Friday, though many are in New York which is currently a dumpster fire for scholastic athletics.
Syracuse is delaying the semester until February 8, the Ivy League has always been the quickest D1 conference to cancel sports in the Covid era, and the Maryland schools could go either way. Let s assume, for the sake of posting, there IS a season. Who will OSU play?
