A young girl has died after being hit by a van while cycling in Co Kerry.

A GIRL (11) HAS died following a collision involving her bicycle and a van in Tralee, Co Kerry.
The incident occurred 3km outside Abbeydorney at around 7.30pm yesterday evening.
The girl was seriously injured in the collision. She was taken to Tralee University Hospital where she later passed away.
The van driver, a man in his 50s, was taken to the same hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The road remains closed as gardaí conduct a technical examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place.

Tributes are being paid today to an 11 year-old girl who died after being hit by a van while she was cycling in Kerry.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision in which an 11-year-old girl died.
It happened 3km outside Abbeydorney in Tralee, Co Kerry on Monday at around 7.30pm.
The girl, who was cycling a bike, was seriously injured and taken to Tralee University Hospital.
She later passed away from her injuries.
The driver of the van, a man aged in his 50s, was also taken to Tralee University Hospital for treatment.
The road remains closed as a technical examination of the scene is being conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Local diversions are also in place.

Gardaà in Kerry are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred 3km outside Abbeydorney, Tralee, last evening at approximately 7.30 p.m.
A female pedal cyclist and a van were involved in the collision. The pedal cyclist, a female aged 11 years, was seriously injured during the collision. She was taken to Tralee University Hospital where she later passed away. The driver of the van, a man in his 50s, was removed to Tralee University Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The road remains closed as a technical examination of the scene is being conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Gardaà are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.
