EAST LIVERPOOL The iconic Hot Dog Shoppe in downtown has been sold.
The Hot Dog Shoppe in East Liverpool and two other restaurants like it in the Mahoning Valley have been sold by the family that founded the brand but don’t expect much change, the new owner says.
Restaurant industry veterans, and brothers, Greg and Nick Vojnovic bought the Hot Dog Shoppes in Warren, Girard and East Liverpool in Columbiana County from the Trevelline and Doverspike families.
Paul Trevelline founded the brand in 1946.
“These are iconic restaurants that have been around, they were founded 75 years ago … and that’s not very common in the restaurant business,” said Greg Vojnovic. “They are very popular, they are very successful and the family, the Doverspike and Trevelline family, were at a point where they needed someone to carry the legacy and so my brother Nick and I, that is what we are hoping to do.”

A sign in front of a house at 326 N. Park Ave., Warren, that was built in the mid-1890s notifies the public that a demolition permit request has been filed.
WARREN Cindee Mines is tired of seeing local history disappear one building at a time.
The Champion resident and Trumbull County Historical Society board member is trying to raise opposition to the proposed demolition of a historic house at 326 N. Park Ave.
“If there’s an outcry like with the trees (cut down) by the Kinsman House (in 2019), maybe there’s someone else who would step up and save it,” Mines said.
WARREN A Liberty condominium group of 41 lot owners within the Kline’s Farm development has sued the community development group, its real estate agency and others, alleging violation of community rules.
Members of Kline’s Cove and its condominium association filed a lawsuit in late January in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court against Kline’s Farm Community Inc., Altobelli Real Estate, Home and Land Developers, Kline’s Farm Master Association and BrodMor Inc. property management group.
The owner of Altobelli Real Estate, however, said the lawsuit comes down to difficulties with one individual in the condo group.
A check of the Trumbull County Auditor’s Office website shows that single-dwelling properties in the development are valued in the $240,000 to $280,000 range. The condos at Kline’s Cove are rental properties, with leases going for $1,200 per month.
