Trung An High-Tech Agriculture Joint Stock Company will export 1,600 tonnes of high-value fragrant rice to Singapore and Malaysia, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced on January 13.

Accordingly, 450 tonnes of Jasmine 85 rice will be shipped to the Singaporean market at 680 USD per tonne, while 1,150 tonnes of “Huong Lai” fragrant rice will be delivered to customers in Malaysia at 750 USD per tonne.
These are very high prices, General Director of Trung An JSC Pham Thai Binh said, adding that the company is also preparing to export over 2,000 tonnes of rice to Germany.

HCM City to spend US$2.3 million to repair HCM City-Trung Luong expressway.
HCM City will spend VNĐ55 billion (US$2.3 million) to maintain and repair the HCM City-Trung Lương expressway.
HCM City will spend an additional VNĐ55 billion (US$2.3 million) to repair and maintain the HCM City-Trung Lương expressway.
Nguyễn Văn Thành, head of the Department of Road Management No 4, said that recently the city had spent VNĐ22 billion to repair a section of the expressway.
In April, the department would spend more VNĐ55 billion to continue the work.
After more than 10 years of operation, the expressway has deteriorated because of severe cracks caused by container trucks.
Rice export turnover up 10 percent in 2020
Vietnam earned over 3 billion USD from exporting rice in 2020, according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), a year-on-year increase of more than 10 percent.

The rice sector is expected to again post high growth this year, when new-generation free trade agreements (FTAs) Vietnam has signed with foreign partners come into play.

Nguyen Quang Hoa, director of Duong Vu Co., Ltd. â one of the largest exporting and processing companies in the Mekong Delta province of Long An â described to VIR the details of another successful year for the company, with export volume of nearly 300,000 tonnes worth nearly $100 million.
âThe exact figures are not yet available but they are much higher than last year. The companyâs key export markets are the Philippines and China, and in 2021 we will continue to expand our customer base in these two countries,â Hoa said.
