INDECOM starts probe in fatal Trafalgar Road shooting Thursday, May 13, 2021
THE Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) commenced its independent enquiry into Monday s fatal police shooting of two men on Trafalgar Road, Kingston 10.
An INDECOM release said there has been some speculation, confusion and inaccuracy in the initial reports carried in broadcasts, which require clarity.
According to INDECOM, the police reported that upon receipt of information concerning a fatal shooting incident in the Swallowfield community, details of a vehicle believed to have gunmen were transmitted. The vehicle was spotted and intercepted on Trafalgar Road, where three officers initially confronted the occupants. During that encounter gunshots were fired. “The details of the circumstances of the discharge of weapons are under examination,” said INDECOM.
The finishing touches were made to a ‘pocket park’ in Greenwich in one of the borough’s pollution hotspots. Councillors joined residents to plant a variety of shrubs, grasses, and perennials at The Mell Street Pocket Park, just off Trafalgar Road. The park is one of three in the Trafalgar Road area, the others at Hoskins Street and Pelton Road, part of a range of interventions made to improve air quality as part of the Low Emission Neighbourhood (LEN) scheme. Cllr Denise Scott McDonald, Deputy Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, said: “It’s fantastic to see the community coming together to embrace this beautiful and tranquil little park next to what is one of the busiest thoroughfares in the borough.
