This is an intriguing addition for the Birds.
Johnson, 24, was the Lions’ second-round pick (No. 43 overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft. He showed promise as a rookie with 118 attempts for 641 rushing yards (very good 5.4 average), three touchdowns, and just one fumble. Johnson also caught 32 of his 39 targets for 213 yards and one score.
Johnson’s first-year campaign was cut short due to a knee injury. He had another knee injury that required surgery in 2019. Then the Lions (somewhat) unexpectedly Philly native D’Andre Swift in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, raising questions about Johnson’s future in Detroit.

ALLEN PARK The Detroit Lions are waiving former second-round pick Kerryon Johnson per the NFL Network.
Johnson, 23, was a second-round pick in 2018. He started 14 games over his first two seasons, but knee issues cost him 14 games through those first two years. He showed flashes of offering something more through those two first seasons, running for 641 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games as a rookie. Johnson added 32 receptions for 213 yards and one score that year but never matched that production or usage again.

PHILADELPHIA – There are five running backs listed on the Eagles’ roster, with just a smattering of weeks to go until the 2021 NFL Draft on April 29.
The expectation is the Eagles will add another one. If that isn’t the expectation, then it should be.
The only two proven commodities at the position are Miles Sanders and Boston Scott. The other three- Jason Huntley, Adrian Killins, and Elijah Holyfield – were never given a chance to prove themselves under the previous coaching regime. Maybe the new one will give them that opportunity.

Playing professional football in Detroit taught the rookie cornerback how to deal with a variety of adverse circumstances, including battling injuries, not being at the top of the team s depth chart and figuring out how to handle issues with transparency. The reality is when you re at Ohio State, things are really looking up a lot of the time. You don t really have to deal with losing. You don t deal with dysfunction, Okudah explained at the end of his rookie season.
