Dipping into Dover Mineral Springs Courtesy of Neil Snarr Before the era of air conditioning, it was common to seek an outside location for meetings where it was cool. One of those locations near Wilmington was the Dover Mineral Springs on Dover Road, about four miles north of Wilmington. Not only was this location wooded, it was home to a much-celebrated mineral spring, and just a short walk from the Dover Friends Meeting, one of the earliest settlements in the county. The Mineral Springs are first mentioned in the Wilmington Journal as a meeting place on August 1, 1872 and the occasion was the Clinton County Temperance Association:

Five Things for Dover, Sherborn and Medfield: Relay for Life update Wicked Local 1 The Friends of the Dover Council on Aging, with support of the Dover Council on Aging, are sponsoring the following three-part Lifetime Learning series on “Painters of Modern Life: Transatlantic Impressionism.” The series will be held Thursdays, 1:30-3 p.m., May 13, 20 and 27. Registration forms are available online at http://www.coafriends.org/. 2 The Medfield Animal Shelter’s annual low-cost rabies vaccination clinic is scheduled for April 24, and will take place at the shelter. Pets from all towns are welcome. Cats will be vaccinated from 9-10:30 a.m. and dogs from 10:30 a.m.-noon. The cost is $10 per pet and can be paid by cash or check.
