Man dies kayaking on Nymboida River
A man has died after his kayak flipped and trapped him between rocks on the Nymbodia River.
A family member saw the man s kayak upturn and contacted emergency services who rushed to the river, near Lower Bielsdown Road at Tallowwood Ridge, north of Dorrigo, about 1pm today.
A rescue operation was commenced but the man - aged in his 40s - could not be saved.

His body was found a short time later but has not been pulled from the water.
A crime scene has been established and a recovery operation will continue into the night.

A family member notified emergency services and an operation commenced. A short time later, the body of a man in his 40s was located. A crime scene has been established and will be held overnight, as a recovery operation commences - utilising officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District, PolAir, Police Rescue and police divers.

The NSW Mid-North Coast town of Dorrigo s 99-year-old cenotaph has been restored after being shattered in a car crash last year.
Key points:
The base of the monument was severely damaged, but the marble solider suffered little damage
Dozens of locals turned out to see the the solider returned and the restoration of the monument completed
The monument s granite and marble were no match for the force of the car when it smashed into the structure.

The iconic lone soldier statue came to rest on the roof of a Ford Focus on the night of May 14, 2020. For some of the town s war veterans the sight of the Cenotaph s stone pillar base, featuring the names of World War I and World War II veterans in pieces on the roadway was too much to bear. I m devastated and a couple of the other sub-branch members have been down and had a look at it and they have left in disgust, Dorrigo RSL Sub-Branch President Jim Macleod told The Advocate at the time.
