President of Goleta Valley South Little League Fred Bayat said, “Unfortunately, we’ve had to get by with current conditions of the field and there are some safety issues.” The league is struggling financially and, in turn, is having problems addressing field and complex maintenance after COVID-19 halted fundraising opportunities. Bayat said, “It’s around $5,000 dollars a month in water bills and general maintenance to cover everything that’s needed with our facility.”

Friends of Library book sales back online The Friends of the Los Altos Library launched a website in October and then had to temporarily shut it down for lack of access to the library. The site – folbookshelf.org – is now back online. For residents who miss the Friends of the Library’s quarterly book sales, which have been sidelined by the pandemic, the website offers the opportunity to replenish their bookshelves. Patrons can view pictures of the books for sale online, pay for them by credit card and then pick up them up, just as they do for library holds.
