In the woman's 5000 m, Ericka VanderLende earned Second-Team All-American honors with a 15th-place 16:37.36.
The Woman's distance medley relay team placed 5th. All American.

The first full day of men’s action at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships saw some remarkable times in the distance events and a historic double victory by LSU’s
JuVaughn Harrison in the long jump and high jump. Iowa State’s
Wesley Kiptoo (13:23.77) and Oregon (9:19.98) both broke meet records to claim the 5,000 and distance medley relay titles, while the mile prelims were also full of drama as NCAA 1500 record holder
Sam Tanner of Washington shockingly failed to advance.

(12-Mar) Iowa State’s Wesley Kiptoo and Auburn’s Joyce Kimeli won the 5000m titles on the penultimate day of the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center at the University of Arkansas today, while the men of Oregon and women of Brigham Young took the distance medley relay titles with superb anchor-leg runs.

Kiptoo dominated the men’s race, running away from the field to win in a championships record of 13:23.77. Wearing black knitted gloves (he later said his hands were cold), Kiptoo started the race aggressively, splitting the first 400m in 59.8 seconds, and the first 800m in 2:01.1.
