The Trails and Tales of the Old West Go on Forever

That’s hard to say precisely because the Old West covered thousands of square miles. Stagecoaches were still hauling passengers in remote parts of Arizona into the 1920s.

What Event Marked the End of the Old West? - True West Magazine

True West Magazine What event marked the end of the Old West?     That’s hard to say precisely because the Old West covered hundreds of square miles. Stagecoaches were still hauling passengers in remote parts of Arizona into the 1920s. The Arizona Rangers were still breaking up gangs of rustlers in the early 1900 as were the Texas and New Mexico Rangers. There are areas in the west including parts of the Dakotas, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and even California, Oregon and Washington that are still “Western.” I’ve been there and seen ’em.

If you re able to go above and beyond to help us during this important time, please consider making an additional financial contribution. Click here to contribute. In the last 10 years, we have explored sites in all 15 Arizona counties. We have driven on interstates, blue highways, dirt roads and dirt trails. We’ve climbed our way to the top of mountains, driven to the depths of canyons, walked amongst dinosaur tracks, photographed wild horses, ventured onto the skywalk, driven to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, walked across the London Bridge, searched for anthill garnets, walked on tribal lands, viewed ancient petroglyphs and pictographs, taken a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon, driven through the world’s largest ponderosa pine forest in the world, explored the third largest volcanic field in the continental United States, and walked amongst ancient rock dwellings.
