Galway s three fatal road collisions in 2021 recorded in west of county

Galway Bay FM 27 May 2021 print Galway Bay fm newsroom – Three fatal road collisions have been recorded in the west of the county so far this year. A meeting of the county joint policing committee heard the incidents took place in Carraroe, Spiddal and Carna. No fatal road incidents were recorded in county Galway in the same period from January to April last year. Chair of the JPC councillor Jim Cuddy noted the increase in fatal crashes and extended condolences to the families impacted. Speaking about the wider region and the general condition of roads in the west of the county, Connemara area councillor Daithí O Cualáin said it was concerning to see the poor state of the R336 and asked the Garda Chief Superintendent if there is any connection with historic fatalties occurring along that road.

That process, triggered by what’s called a Code Stroke, was launched a decade ago, and since then NHRMC has added specialists in neurointerventional surgery and been certified as a DNV-GL Comprehensive Stroke Center. NHRMC, now part of Novant Health, continues to improve its care of stroke patients by increasing access to treatments and looking for more ways to get acute stroke patients treatments more quickly.

Garda Chief hears call for more resources in Headford area

Galway Bay FM 25 May 2021 print Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Garda Chief Superintendent has been urged to consider the allocation of more resources to the Headford area. Local councillor Andrew Reddington told the county joint policing committee that there has been a rise in incidents of crime in the area in recent months. This, he said, included a car chase, a break-in at a car dealership and a number of thefts of boat engines. Garda Chief Superintendent Tom Curley said he is quite happy with the resources there and that the two guards are doing excellent duty. He told the meeting it would be kept under review.
