Super Rugby: Ospreys snare Wales-qualified Highlanders utility Michael Collins

“It’s all about adding to the Ospreys environment and playing my role in a set-up which is on the up.’’ Collins – a New Zealand under-20 international in 2013 – played 16 games under Pivac for Ospreys’ arch rivals Scarlets in the 2015-16 season. The Queenstown-born centre or fullback made his first-class debut for Otago in 2012 as a teenager before heading to Scarlets, who are based in Llanelli – Collins’ grandfather’s home town. On his return to New Zealand, he joined the Blues in 2017, playing 29 Super Rugby games before heading home to the Highlanders in 2020. Collins – who turns 28 in June – captained Otago last season in the Mitre 10 Cup and has chalked up 71 appearances for the blue and golds.
