DC Comics sequel is coming back to HBO Max on Thursday.
The 2020 film follows protagonist Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) also known as Wonder Woman as she looks to get the bottom of a global crisis caused by a man controlling Dreamstone, a mysterious and ancient object that grants wishes for people at the expense of something they love.
How To Train Your Dragon star Kristen Wiig and
Narcos actor Pedro Pascal also feature in the film, which is set in 1984 during the Cold War. Pascal plays the villain Maxwell Lord, who uses Dreamstone for personal gain and power, while Wiig plays Barbara Minerva, a nerdy geologist who befriends Diana but later transforms into a different character.
Warner Brothers is reportedly seeking to make a Blackity Black Black Superman film, with writer Ta-Nehisi Coates already signed on to pen the project, but fans aren’t convinced that the motivation is diversity as much as it is a distraction.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “insiders” have been whispering that Warner and DC are “committed to hiring a Black director to tackle what will be the first cinematic incarnation of Superman featuring a Black actor.”

With controversy engulfing the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. and major Hollywood players backing away from the embattled organization, NBC announced Monday that it will not air the Golden Globe Awards in 2022.
“We continue to believe that the HFPA is committed to meaningful reform,” the network, which has aired the awards show since 1996, said in a statement. “However, change of this magnitude takes time and work, and we feel strongly that the HFPA needs time to do it right. As such, NBC will not air the 2022 Golden Globes. Assuming the organization executes on its plan, we are hopeful we will be in a position to air the show in January 2023.”
With questions swirling about the future of the Golden Globe Awards, influential studios continued to back away from the embattled Hollywood Foreign Press Association, with WarnerMedia joining Netflix and Amazon Studios in cutting ties with the organization until sweeping reforms are enacted.
In a letter sent Sunday to HFPA president Ali Sar, top WarnerMedia executives said the company is putting all activities with the organization on hold, suggesting that its proposed reforms â designed to address a sweeping range of issues raised in a Feb. 21 Los Angeles Times investigation â are inadequate both in scope and pace.
With the move, Warner Bros. became the first major studio to distance itself from the HFPA, deepening a crisis for the organization that is threatening both its very existence and the awards show that it has put on for nearly 80 years.
