LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - March 1st - 5th is Teen Driver Safety Week and authorities want to remind parents and teens of good driving habits that are important for keeping the roadways safe for everyone.
Todayâs Reminder: Donât Drive Impaired
According to Louisiana State Police, 16% of teen passengers that were involved in fatal crashes in 2018 had been drinking. It is extremely important for parents and guardians to remind teens that they should not be drinking before the age of 21 and that regardless of their age, you should never drink and drive.
Statewide STOP DWI Super Bowl Weekend
Crackdowns on impaired driving will be taking place leading into, and during the Superbowl weekend throughout New York State
Cortland County Sheriff Mark Helms also announced that they will have DWI patrols participating in special enforcements beginning February 5
th through the February 8
th 2021.
Many police agencies will have saturation patrols throughout the Superbowl weekend throughout New York State.
The Superbowl is the biggest sporting event of the year in America, and statically one of the deadliest times for drunk driving fatalities.

HENRICO Co., Va. (WWBT) - On Jan. 1, 2021, if youâre caught with a cell phone or other device in your hands while driving, you could face a hefty fine.
âWe all know distracted driving is dangerous,â said a member with the Hanover County Sheriffâs Office. âLast year it resulted in nearly 35,000 crashes.â
That statistic is why local law enforcement pushed out a PSA Friday to alert the public about the new hands-free law going into effect on Jan. 1.
