When former New York Giants tight end Dan Campbell signed a six-year contract last week to join the Detroit Lions, he added a new branch to the already-impressive Bill Parcells coaching tree.
Parcells, who won two Super Bowls as Giants head coach, hasn’t been on the sideline since 2006 with the Dallas Cowboys. But his roots run deep in today’s NFL. Here is the list of Parcells assistants and players who have gone on to become head coaches in the NFL:
2021/01/26 07:46 CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) The Panthers have hired Sean Ryan as quarterbacks coach and Tony Sparano Jr. as assistant offensive line coach, and announced that defensive line coach Mike Phair will not return next season. Ryan replaces coach Jake Peetz, who left to become the offensive coordinator at LSU. Sparano takes over for Marcus Satterfield, now the offensive coordinator at South Carolina. Ryan worked with Panthers head coach Matt Rhule with the Giants in 2012. Ryan has spent time coaching Matthew Stafford and Deshaun Watson while working with the Lions and Texans. Sparano Jr., whose father Tony Sparano was the head coach of the Raiders (2014) and Dolphins (2008-11), has spent the past four seasons with the Jaguars as the assistant offensive line coach.

CHARLOTTE – The Panthers made a couple of additions to their coaching staff, filling some vacancies ahead of this week s Senior Bowl.
The team officially hired Sean Ryan as quarterbacks coach and Tony Sparano Jr. as assistant offensive line coach. Additionally, the Panthers announced Monday that defensive line coach Mike Phair will not return next season. Phair came to Carolina last year after spending 2018-19 in the same role with the Colts.
Ryan and Sparano replace former quarterbacks coach Jake Peetz (who left for the offensive coordinator job at LSU) and assistant line coach Marcus Satterfield (now the offensive coordinator at South Carolina). The two new guys come with connections, which should make their transition easier.
Matt Rhule Seems Optimistic That OC Joe Brady Will Return in 2021
The Panthers may not be in the market for a new offensive coordinator after all.

Since the Carolina Panthers season came to an end in early January a lot has happened. The team has hired Scott Fitterer as the new general manager, a few coaches have left for other opportunities, and offensive coordinator Joe Brady interviewed for nearly every head coaching vacancy in the league.
The Panthers lost quarterbacks coach Jake Peetz and DJ Mangus who will both be going to the college ranks to man the LSU offense. As for Marcus Satterfield, one of Rhule s right-hand guys, he left to become the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of South Carolina.
