Line of Duty s clever throwbacks to season one as conspiracy theories heat up

Line of Duty s clever throwbacks to season one as conspiracy theories heat up Mirror 8 hrs ago Louise Randell Line of Duty is moving forward with series six, but fans have been noticing an increasing number of clever links back to the first ever season. The show launched in 2012 with the first episodes focusing on the story focusing on Detective Chief Inspector Tony Gates, played by Lennie James. Series one first teamed AC-12 newbie Steve Arnott [Martin Compston] with DC Kate Fleming [Vicky McClure] who was working undercover. Fast forward to series six, and there have been more and more throwbacks to season one - and fans have started to think these clues might be the key to unravelling the entire murky plot.

Line of Duty, season 6 episode 3 recap: sex, drugs and Terry Boyle

Tommy Jessop as Terry Boyle and Gregory Piper as Ryan Pilkington Credit: Steffan Hill/BBC An episode that had it all – for better or for worse. “You know I’m still your best mate, Terry” Oh, poor Terry Boyle. Used by the OCG – or “cuckooed” as Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) had it – for nine years, he was now deemed a danger to their balaclava-clad dealings and needed to be silenced. A convenient witness had come forward to claim she saw Terry, not Carl Banks, arguing with the dead CHIS, Alastair Oldroyd, in the Red Lion. With Terry back in questioning and nearly spilling all to MIT – “The other man. He did it” – undercover weasel PC Ryan Pilkington (Gregory Piper) attempted to tie up that dangerous loose end.

Line of Duty season 6, episode 3 explained

Line of Duty spoilers follow – including season 6, episode 3 and its ending. An AC-12 reunion. One police officer dramatically killed in the line of duty. And another taken, tail between legs, to be questioned by anti-corruption. This week s (April 4) Line of Duty was a jam-packed one. So let s take a moment to break it down. Has it been Buckells all along? BBC So we finally have an answer about the elusive Detective Superintendent Ian Buckells. Or do we? Fans have long held suspicions that Buckells could be, as Hastings would put it, a bent copper . Thanks to his tendency to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (or the right place at the right time?) and his deep disdain for AC-12, he s been one to keep a close eye on ever since the first season.
