Wisconsin s Republican-controlled budget committee voted to approve funding for a number of state agencies as Republicans work to craft their own version of the state s two-year budget.
The question over whether to increase funding for the Wisconsin Black Historical Society lead to a terse exchange Thursday before the Joint Finance Committee.
National Anthem mandate passes state Assembly
When Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban ordered his NBA team to stop playing the national anthem, Wisconsin state Representative Tony Kurtz (R – Wonewoc) was inspired to draft a bill mandating the anthem at sports venues here.
“I do want awareness of the national anthem,” Kurtz said. “And when one individual, a billionaire can say “I don’t want to play it,” at his whim, that’s a problem.”
Although Cuban backed down under pressure from the league, Kurtz’s bill addresses the problem by requiring the anthem at any sports facility that’s received taxpayer support, although it carries no penalties for failing to do so.

A Wisconsin bill that would require the national anthem to be played before all sporting events held at publicly funded venues was passed by the state Assembly on Tuesday.
The bill passed 74-22 on a bipartisan vote. The measure will now head to the state’s Senate, which is Republican-controlled. The state’s governor, Tony Evers, is a Democrat.
State Rep. Tony Kurtz, the bill’s Republican sponsor, told Fox News that he came up with the idea for the bill after the Dallas Mavericks opted to stop playing the national anthem before home games in February. The Mavericks reversed course after the NBA reinforced a ruling that the anthem should be played ahead of games.
Fox and Friends hosted Kurtz to promote his fascist endeavor.
When asked by Will Cain why he singled out sporting events, Rep, Kurtz used some wartime metaphor but really gave no rational reason for this to happen at Packers games and not movie theaters.
Obviously his bill has to do with Colin Kaepernick, so they have legislated away freedom by forcing Americans to participate in a forced anthem.
You can tell the Fox and Friends Will Cain wasn t totally behind this ludicrous idea that has been passed into law.
Cain uses the some people say routine on the WI legislator and said people around spots always told him, Patriotism has to be a choice. I cannot be mandated. What do you say to that?
