There are signed and framed photos of Bill Clinton, Red Holloway and Slide Hampton, as well as framed photos of musicians who were integral to the Pec, including saxophonist Freddy Rodriguez, who led the house band for four decades before dying last March from COVID-19 complications, and saxophonist Billy Tolles and Tony Black.
There are also framed photos of nationally known jazz legends who performed at the venue, including Eddie Harris, Lew Tabacken, Pete Christlieb, Bud Shank, Ray Brown, Gene Harris and Richie Cole.

Brian Claxton, Nocturne is excited to reopen its doors for this special night after Denver’s 7 week winter COVID closure. Brian will be featured in trio format on this evening featuring

Claxton is a two time Nocturne artist in residency alumni known for his electrifying groove and rhythmic mastery. His diverse background includes touring internationally with jazz piano legend Monty Alexander and performing alongside Donny McCaslin, Chris Potter, Christian McBride, Dave Douglas, Randy Brecker, Nicholas Payton, and many others. A passionate student of the history of American music, Claxton has navigated a career with one foot in the past and one foot in the future. He’s released three records as a co-leader and has appeared on over thirty others as a sideman.
Back for their annual holiday Dazzle gig, this year, the Jazz Connection is celebrating the life of its leader, 89 year old Freddy Rodriguez, Sr., who passed away from Covid 19 complications in March and the club he performed at for the past 40 years, Denver’s legendary El Chapultepec which also announced it would be closing.
