AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo Sod Poodles have officially accepted the invitation from the Arizona Diamondbacks to join the Double-A affiliate.
“We are thrilled to announce our new 10-year MLB partnership with the Arizona Diamondbacks!” said Sod Poodles President and General Manager Tony Ensor. “The D-backs winning culture mixed with their top-rated farm system and a strong commitment to player development ensures our franchise and community with long-term success. We cannot wait to welcome the highly-talented D-backs prospects to Sod Poodles country with the support of the best fans in all of baseball when we return to HODGETOWN in 2021!”
The recent meeting of Leinster and Munster – each at full-strength, for once – so close to Ireland’s championship opener, along with the variety of selection sub-plots in Limerick, evoked for many of a certain vintage the era when there truly was a final trial.
Few recall these as halcyon days. They ruined Christmas. They heightened the pomposity of those selecting the team rather than those who coached it. The matches were predominantly dour affairs. For its first event of 2021, the Amarillo Sod Poodles, along with Ballpark Music, are hosting the Grammy Award-nominated country act Midland at Hodgetown at 6 p.m. April 3 to end the act s five-show Texas tour.
Tickets for the event, which start at $30, will go on sale at 9 a.m. Thursday on the band s website or at the Hodgetown box office. Seating options consist of on-field pods for four people, premium club seats, bowl seating as well as standing room and lawn seating.
According to the release, the band s second album Let It Roll topped the Billboard Top Country Album Sales chart when it was released in August 2019, receiving praise from National Public Radio, Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly. The band received its first Grammy nominations with its 2017 song Drinkin Problem, being nominated for Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

Hailing from Dripping Springs, TX lead vocalist Mark Wystrach fronts Midland’s rich sound that is rounded out with lead guitarist/vocalist Jess Carson and bass player/vocalist Cameron Duddy. Their critically-acclaimed sophomore album Let it Roll (Big Machine Records) earned the No. 1 position on Billboard’s Top Country Album Sales chart upon release, receiving praise from outlets such as Rolling Stone, Variety, NPR and Entertainment Weekly among others. Wystrach, Carson and Duddy all played an integral role in writing the 14-track album with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne. The album was produced by Dann Huff, McAnally and Osborne and was a follow-up to the critically acclaimed, GOLD-certified debut album, On The Rocks (Big Machine Records).
