Former Davy Group chief executive Tony Garry has resigned as chairman and director of BES Management, a joint venture between Davy and BDO for managing investments under the Employment and Investment Incentive Scheme (EIIS).
He departed the board of the company on March 8, just six days after Davy was fined €4.13m and reprimanded by the Central Bank for a controversial 2014 bond deal in which he participated. His resignation was confirmed by a spokesperson for BES.
The news follows his departure from the board of the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, which was reported in the
Sunday Independent, and the resignation of his colleague Brian McKiernan from the provost’s council at Trinity College Dublin and the governing council of the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital in Dublin.

Embattled stockbroking firm Davy has asked its staff to come forward if they know of other situations in the past where clients may have had reason to complain about its advice as it tries to negotiate the devastating fallout from its €4.1 million fine over senior executives secretly being on both sides of a bond deal.
Bernard Byrne, who took over as interim chief executive last week after the departure of his predecessor Brian McKiernan in the fallout, on Saturday evening wrote to the firm’s staff asking for their help in identifying “anything that has happened in the past”.

The new committee to develop a five year strategic plan for Clare GAA has been formally ratified by club delegates at their March gathering.
The group, which was formed of the back of motion from Eire Óg GAA club, were proposed en block by the Ennis club, with John Keane of Doonbeg GAA Club seconding the proposal.
Clarecastle’s Mark O’Connell (CEO of Repucon Consulting), Parteen man Conor Gilligan (CEO of Roadbridge), Ogonnelloe’s Colin Kelly (CEO of Gyrogy), Eoin Conroy of Barefield (CEO of Titan Experience), Ennis man Eoin Doohan (Managing Director of DFP Group, Enda Connolly of Ennis (Managing Director of CMP Investment Partners) and Enda O’Flaherty of Shannonside will be joined by Kilrush native Roisín Glynn, who is a senior manager with AIB, along with current vice chairman Kieran Keating.

Former Davy stockbrokers chief executive Brian McKiernan has resigned from the Provost’s Council at Trinity College Dublin and the board of a Dublin hospital in the wake of the bond deal scandal.
Mr McKiernan stepped down as a member of the advisory council at the university and the governing council of the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital on Adelaide Road in Dublin.

Davy’s interim chief executive, Bernard Byrne, wrote to clients on Friday evening offering his “unreserved and unequivocal apology and regret” for the bond scandal that has convulsed the business, resulting in top executive exits and the firm putting itself up for sale.
“The failures at Davy have impacted our reputation and your trust in us. As the new leader of Davy I will do everything I can to rebuild that trust,” said Mr Byrne, a former CEO of AIB who joined Davy two years ago as deputy chief executive. “We remain fully committed to and focussed on serving your needs.”
