YOKOHAMA, Japan, May 11, 2021 - (JCN Newswire) - Mitsubishi Power, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group, has received an order for a 50-megawatt (MW) class woody biomass-fired power plant planned for development in the city of Hyuga, in Miyazaki Prefecture. Mitsubishi Power will provide the full turnkey solution for the plant, handling engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), with commercial operation scheduled to commence in November 2024.

ITOCHU to launch biomass power generation business in Japan ITOCHU to launch biomass power generation business in Japan 19 April 2021 | News Photo Credit: Kyushu Regional Development Bureau Miyazaki Port and Airport Office ITOCHU Corporation announced on April 15, 2021, that it has made a decision to establish Hyuga Biomass Power Generation Co., Ltd., a business operation company-funded jointly by Osaka Gas Co., Ltd., Tokyo Century Corporation, and Tokyo Energy & Systems Inc. to construct a biomass power plant in Hososhima Industrial District in Hyuga City, Miyazaki Prefecture. In this project, ITOCHU will provide a long-term supply of wood pellets and Green Power Fuel Corporation of Osaka Gas Group will provide domestic woodchips. In addition, Tokyo Energy & Systems will take a role in operation and maintenance, while Daigas G&P Solution Co., Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of Osaka Gas, and Tokyo Energy & Systems will take a role in the owner s engineering.
