Kincardine council has taken the next step to look for their own doctors that might be interested in locating in the municipality.
Council feels it needs to up its game to stay in the hunt.
The problem is the joint physician recruitment program involving Kincardine, Saugeen Shores and Bruce Power is under evaluation and at this time doesn’t have a full time doctor recruiter.
Kincardine council agreed on February 1st to allow CAO Sharon Chambers, Councillor Doug Kennedy and Dr. Angela Cavanagh to meet with potential recruits on their own.
Councillor Kennedy says there is nothing more important, in his mind, than getting enough doctors into the community.

Dorne Fitzsimmons will be back at a municipal council table for the first time in more than two decades.
Fitzsimmons was appointed by Kincardine Council last Wednesday to fill a seat that was made vacant after the passing of Deputy Mayor Marie Wilson.
The former Reeve of Tiverton last served on Council in 1998 and decided to throw his name in when the opening for Ward 3 Councillor was announced.
Fitzsimmons says he wants to make sure concerns from Ward 3 residents are addressed but also invites all residents of the municipality to contact him about any issues.

Congratulations to Kyla Johnston and Kyle Bosch on the arrival of the Grey Bruce first baby of 2021. Beautiful Maisyn Olivia was overdue and decided she wanted to be born at home. The bouncing baby girl weighed in at a wopping 8 lb 1 oz. Little brother Wyatt is also thrilled to have a baby sister.

The seat for Ward 3 on Kincardine Council has been filled.
Council voted to appoint Dorne Fitzsimmons of Tiverton (in photo) as the Ward 3 Councillor at a special meeting Wednesday night.
Fitzsimmons was one of ten vying to succeed Randy Roppel (row-pull) who became Deputy Mayor after the passing of Marie Wilson late last year.
Fitzsimmons will be officially sworn in at the next Council meeting scheduled for next Monday.
