PRINCETON, Ind. Toyota is making a major investment at its Princeton, Indiana plant that will bring in 1,400 new jobs to produce two new vehicles designed to help the brand meet its goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana (TMMI) on Wednesday announced an $803 million investment and 1,400 new jobs at its Princeton auto-manufacturing plant.
PRINCETON, Ind. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana on Wednesday announced a new $803 million investment, which will bring 1,400 additional jobs.
The investment will help the plant prepare for production of two all-new, three-row SUVs. One will be a Toyota and the other a Lexus, introducing the Lexus line to Toyota s 25-year-old facility in Princeton.
Plant officials gave no timeline for those additions.
Toyota said the new initiatives will help bring the company closer to its global aim toward carbon neutrality by 2050.
The new SUV models were described as featuring cutting-edge technology including a semi-automated driving system allowing for hands-free driving in certain conditions, a remote parking system allowing the driver to park and unpark from outside of the vehicle and a digital key that turns the user s smartphone into their key and allowing them to share it digitally.

PRINCETON, Ind. (WISH) Toyota on Wednesday announced the addition of 1,400 jobs and a multimillion-dollar investment at it’s Princeton, Indiana, auto-manufacturing plant.
The announcement came just before Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana (TMMI) celebrates its 25th anniversary.
The additional jobs and the $803-million investment will help the company prepare to introduce two new SUVs, one of which will bring the Lexus line to Toyota Indiana. The new vehicles will be announced at a later date, according to a press release sent to News 8.
The new vehicles will join an electrified product portfolio aimed at Toyota’s mission of reaching carbon neutrality by 2050.
The 2021 Sienna represents the biggest update since the model launched, Curry said. Our team members put in thousands of hours of training to be ready for the start of production.
She said the vehicle has enhanced safety and performance features. It includes no fewer than 3,500 new parts and churns 36 miles per gallon.
The manufacturer s suggested retail price starts at $34,460, according to Toyota s website.
Curry announced that Toyota is donating a Sienna to Gibson County Veterans Services, which will use it to take Gibson County veterans in need of transportation to their doctor s appointments.
