Zipline facility opening in Laplace
A zipline course built over Maurepas Swamp is opening this month in Laplace.
Zip NOLA is located at 301 Peavine Road. The facility features five ziplines built 60 feet above the swamp and educates visitors on the area’s history and wildlife.
Zip NOLA also has two suspension bridges, a spiral tree staircase and over 20,000 linear feet of advanced zipline technology, including magnetic braking devices and redundancies, a news release said.
Each tour has two local guides to supervise the course, adhere to safety protocols and educate guests, the release said. The facility also features a gift shop with an elevated 2,000-square-foot deck overlooking the swamp. The shop offers merchandise, souvenirs, snacks and two critter enclosures for baby alligators, turtles and fish.
A woman is charged with reckless homicide and DUI after a holiday weekend crash on the Hal Rogers Parkway in eastern Kentucky. Kentucky State Police said Tracie Jent of Sassafras crossed the center line Sunday night and hit Tyler Richardson of Richmond. Richardson’s Chevy Cruze then went airborne, before landing in traffic where his vehicle was hit by Brittany Wood of Bonnyman, Kentucky. Tyler Richardson’s passenger, Elizabeth Richardson, passed away at the scene. Tyler Richardson was taken by Air Evac to the University of Kentucky Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released. Jent and Wood were both taken by Clay County EMS to AdventHealth Hospital where they were treated for their injuries and released. The parkway was closed down for seven hours for reconstruction. Kentucky State Police believe drugs and alcohol contributed to the crash, leading to Jent’s charges.

Everything Is Tenuous saw the beloved Tasmanian band self record an album for the first time ever.
It’s the same old story we’ve heard all year, but COVID changed a bunch of stuff for us. We made a few songs for this record in Melbourne with our engineer Andrei, then when we couldn’t travel we kind of figured out we could make this record at home, with Andrei mixing from Melbourne.
In this process we learnt a hell of a lot – we’d done a bunch of home demo stuff in the past, but this was the real deal. Here’s five lessons we learned from self-recording an album for the first time, written by me, Tyler Richardson.
