Oakland A s 2021 Community Prospect List #18: Seth Brown is on the doorstep of the majors

Oakland A’s 2021 Community Prospect List #18: Seth Brown is on the doorstep of the majors Share this story Photo by Rob Leiter/MLB Photos via Getty Images Our 2021 Community Prospect List adds its next member, and likely its oldest in slugger Seth Brown. Here’s the current list, including their winning margins (the difference between his % of the vote, and the % of the runner-up): A.J. Puk, LHP (+42%) Tyler Baum, RHP (+1%) Seth Brown, OF (+11%) Brown is a member of an interesting club, as a player who has made it higher on the CPL (18th) than the round of the draft he was selected in (19th, in 2015). I’m not sure how often that happens, but it makes him the only one on this year’s list so far, though Puk (1st) and Allen (3rd) matched their draft rounds.

Here’s the current list, including their winning margins (the difference between his % of the vote, and the % of the runner-up): A.J. Puk, LHP (+42%) Tyler Baum, RHP (+1%) Everyone in the world had a tough time in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, often in direly serious ways, but purely in the strictest baseball terms one group you have to feel for is 2019 draft picks. They left school, maybe got their first taste of the pros in short-season ball, and then had to sit out an entire year when the minor leagues got canceled. Right when their time-sensitive careers were supposed to begin, they hit pause.
