Celebrating its 6th year, the Portland Winter Light Festival returns this Friday in a brand new way. Taking on an entirely new form to safely reflect our current pandemic reality, the festival has been re-imagined from a centrally located light festival to a series of smaller art installations throughout the entire city, expanded from three nights to two weekends. A map of all sites is available here on this website. Activities are being promoted as the 2021 Portland Winter Light (non)Festival.
Art installation sites range from a boat dock in St. Johns to a private residence in Milwaukie, with the largest concentration of installations located in downtown Portland, centered around Pioneer Courthouse Square. Installations will take the form of architectural lighting, pop-up window displays, projection mapping, and more. The lightest Center Grove wrestler found himself carrying the heaviest of responsibilities on Saturday, which is what Charlie LaRocca wanted.
His team leading Franklin by a point with 13 matches complete, LaRocca, a 106-pound freshman, knew his performance would either make or break his team’s chances of winning a Johnson County tournament title.
And win he did.

County wrestling tournament forges ahead despite pandemic

Even the Johnson County wrestling tournament couldn’t elude the long reach of the pandemic.
Greenwood coaches and wrestlers are in the final stages of a two-week quarantine after someone from the program tested positive for COVID-19, turning what was supposed to a five-team event to four and forcing a move to a different location.
The tourney was to be hosted by the Woodmen, but instead begins Saturday morning inside Center Grove’s West Gym.
