In 2020, the EDA purchased the former DoubleTree Hotel at Military Circle Shopping Mall, giving the EDA the ability to reposition the entire Military Circle Mall property. “The City has been aggressive in pursuing the redevelopment of this corridor in a way that will benefit the entire Hampton Roads region. The location provides direct access the entire Southside and we are excited to continue to move forward with this redevelopment project”, said Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander.

Bristol Development Group sold its 301-unit Canopy at Ginter Park apartments for $83.75 million to Capital Square, the Innsbrook-based firm that just over a year ago bought Bristol’s 2000 West Creek apartments in Goochland County. The Canopy sale closed Dec. 30, with Colliers’ Mid-Atlantic Multifamily Advisory Group brokering the deal. The sale price amounts to $278,239 per door, and represents a nearly $29 million windfall for Bristol, which finished the complex last spring at a cost of $55 million.

Station 22 is located just off Balls Ford Road at 7500 Century Park Drive. The county issued a press release with details on the $17 million station. Located on the west end of the county, the approximate 19,000 square foot facility was built by Pavone Construction, in cooperation with the Timmons Group, a structural design engineer firm, and [Prince Willima County’s] Facilities Construction Management. The station will house approximately 45 career staff providing 24-hour coverage on an Engine, Rescue, Medic Unit (Advanced Life Support ambulance) and Collapse Unit. Main Street Homes, the Midlothian-based builder behind the 68-acre Cosby Village development at Hull Street and Otterdale roads, recently unveiled plans for Cosby Village Square, a commercial section that would fill nearly 20 acres along Hull. Planned to total 122,500 square feet of commercial space, the section would add to other parts of Cosby Village that include a Publix-anchored shopping center, a 305-unit apartment complex and hundreds of townhomes to be built by MSH.
