The roster continues to come more and more in focus for the Utes for this upcoming season, as we now know the decision of two former Utes. The first is with Timmy Allen. The All-Pac-12 performer entered his name into the portal not long after the coaching change was made, and there was some hope that he’d return to Utah, but as the days went along, that hope faded. Allen has decided to transfer to Texas, news he made official on social media just a few days ago.
SALT LAKE CITY On a Monday podcast with college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, new Utah coach Craig Smith said he wants to make the Utes perennial NCAA Tournament contenders. Our goal is to to get to the NCAA Tournament, Smith told Rothstein on the College Hoops Today podcast. How are we going to do it? I don t know yet. That road will take its course.
The one-time NAIA championship contender and South Dakota coach knows a thing or two about qualifying for the NCAA Tournament; he did so in three straight seasons at Utah State, making two overall appearances in three years (the other was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic).

Beard is also keeping senior guard Andrew Jones for his extra year of COVID-19 eligibility.

SALT LAKE CITY Rollie Worster s time with Utah State is over, and his time with the University of Utah is about to begin.
The sophomore-to-be point guard from Missoula, Montana, spent as little time as possible in the NCAA s transfer portal, pledging his commitment to the Utes on Thursday less than a week after sources confirmed to KSL.com that he had entered the portal.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound guard averaged 9.1 points, 3.5 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game as a freshman with the Aggies, where he started 25 of 26 games for an Aggies squad that won 20 games and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for a third straight year. That includes a near-triple-double Jan. 28, when he finished one rebound and one assist shy of the prestigious mark in an 83-74 win over UNLV in Las Vegas.
