Pollution fears are raised after Grantham waterways run blue and white

Waterways through Grantham turned blue and white on Tuesday, raising fears that they are being polluted.
Not for the first time, a milky white substance was found flowing into the River Witham in Wyndham Park.
Meanwhile, witnesses walking near the Mow Beck took pictures of the waterway near the Currys store, off Dysart Road, on Tuesday afternoon.

The pictures show a stream of blue water from the Dysart Road area and the couple who reported it say it still appeared polluted when they followed it along to Earlesfield Lane.
Plans for nine new terraced houses in Grantham
A planning application has been submitted concerning the erection of nine terraced houses in Grantham.
The proposal would see land based on Westbourne Place, off Dysart Road, converted from its current use as a walled garden, into nine terraced houses.
Each house would come with off-road parking for one vehicle, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. They would be constructed using a red brick finish and concrete tiled roofs to match the existing properties.

The road surface of Westbourne Place would be improved as part of the development, while the sheds currently situated in the walled gardens would be removed, as well as the surrounding 3.5 metre high wall.
Muted New Year celebrations in tier 4 Lincolnshire
One was a false alarm, but one party broken up in Cleethorpes
Lincolnshire Police didn’t have to deal with any major COVID tier 4 lockdown breaches on New Year’s Eve, and one ‘party’ they were called to turned out to be two people watching re-runs of Countdown.
Lincolnshire moved into tier 4 on Thursday, December 31, while North East Lincolnshire remained in tier 3 and there had been some concerns that trouble would flare up. Both tiers prohibit indoor socialising.
When asked if any New Year’s parties were broken up, or if they had to deal with any trouble on Thursday night, Lincolnshire Police said there weren’t any incidents of this nature.
Grantham fitness club devastated to have to close as Lincolnshire moves into tier 4

A fitness club in Grantham has told its members it is devastated that it must close for the foreseeable future because the county is now in tier 4.
Oceans Fitness on Dysart Road informed its members that it was closing at 6pm yesterday just hours after the Government announced Lincolnshire was moving from tier 3 to tier 4.
In a message to members the club said: We are absolutely devastated to inform you that due to new government tier changes we will be closed from 6pm tonight until further notice.
Grantham gym liquidated after COVID-19 lockdown

A Grantham gym is going into liquidation due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lack of rent and service charge relief from its landlord.
Feelgood Fitness at The George Shopping Centre in Grantham posted on social media on July 12 saying the owners were trying to negotiate the rent procedure with the landlords regarding extra space and access. However, on July 23 it said it was “with a heavy heart we close our doors”.
In a letter to its members which it posted on Facebook, owners Dave and Ads Wright said after investing hundreds of thousands of pounds to the club and its members over the last 14 years it felt “the landlord’s ongoing expectations given these uncertain times makes the future of the club financially untenable”.
