But obtaining a permit to engage in these activities is subject to the university s approval and administrators decide which events and viewpoints are permitted on campus. SCOTUS finally gets its act together, with one exception

Martin Walsh, writing at conservativebrief.com reports: With Democrats in control of Congress and Joe Biden in the White House, Republicans are battling multiple fronts to uphold the Constitution. And conservatives just secured a massive victory at the U.S. Supreme Court regarding free speech. The Supreme Court ruled in an 8-1 decision that a Georgia college’s speech code policy violated the First Amendment and that a student who was harmed by the policy can seek damages. Justice Clarence Thomas issued the opinion of the court, writing that nominal damages claims are enough to establish standing to sue for a constitutional violation.

School called to account for playing favorites

School called to account for playing favorites Monday, December 14, 2020  |  Bob Kellogg (OneNewsNow.com) Spanish A year after denying a Christian student group official status, a Montana high school has reversed itself. Bozeman High School recognizes almost three dozen different campus clubs – among them the Sexuality and Gender Alliance, Climate Crisis Club, and Human Rights Club. But Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Tyson Langhofer explains Bozeman High revoked the status of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes late last year because FCA requires their leaders to adhere to the Christian standards and mission of the group. The purpose of these groups is for students who have similar affinities [and] want to pursue a shared mission to get together and form a group, an association, to pursue that mission, says the attorney. It is illogical to state that a group could require their leaders to adhere to the purpose of the group.

Montana High School Reinstates Christian Student Group After Alliance Defending Freedom Letter 14 Dec 2020 A Montana high school has announced that it will reinstate a Christian student club after it was removed from the school’s list of recognized student organizations in 2019. The high school reversed its decision after Alliance Defending Freedom threatened to take legal action. According to a press release from the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), Bozeman High School in Bozeman, Montana, has reapproved a Christian student group called the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The group was removed from the school’s approved roster of student organizations in 2019. In a letter to the high school, the ADF informed the school that its refusal to recognize the club was a violation of the First Amendment and the Equal Access Act, a federal law passed in 1984 to ensure that schools treat student organizations equally.
