The retired science teacher says he going into humour writing about 20 years ago when Kenora was looking for a new landfill site near Silver Lake.
“That was the very first situation I wrote about, trying to make a bad situation funny to bring it to people’s attention,” says Schwartz.
“Once I started writing, it just became something I wanted to do because I enjoyed it.”

Most Western University and Fanshawe College students will not return to on-campus learning until at least two weeks after their studies begin virtually because of the coming provincial shutdown, school officials say.
Though Western students will start studying online Jan. 11, on-campus learning for most faculties will start Jan. 25, two days after the scheduled end of a shutdown announced Monday by Premier Doug Ford to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The shutdown begins on Boxing Day and will continue for 28 days, affecting “course delivery and some campus operations,” Western officials said in a statement Tuesday.

The Stutsman County Commission and Stutsman County Park Board reorganized with new members during its regular meeting Tuesday.
Joan Morris, a former member of the Stutsman County Park Board, took her seat on the county commission. Morris was elected to the seat vacated by Dave Schwartz, who did not seek reelection.
Bob Martin was appointed to fill Morris seat on the park board. The Stutsman County Park Board is made up of the five county commissioners and two appointed members of the community.
