Nashville Tennessean
On Tuesday morning, Morgan Wallen celebrated his third week with the No. 1 album in the country. By day’s end, radio programmers were scrambling to get his music removed from the airwaves.
As video surfaced this week of the 27-year-old country star using a racial slur, it led to swift, unprecedented action from all sides of the music industry and a fallout unlike anything Nashville has ever seen.
His label, Big Loud Records, announced they were “suspending” the contract of their flagship artist. iHeartMedia, the nation’s largest radio conglomerate, took his songs out of rotation at their 800-plus stations. He was banned from the ballot of the Academy of Country Music Awards, and streaming services scrubbed him from their official playlists.

Morgan Wallen s fast-rising career crashed and burned this week after video Tuesday night circulated of the country artist saying the N-word.
His record label suspended his contract indefinitely, radio stations and streaming services pulled his songs from playlists, and his booking agency severed ties with him.
But Wallen is still scheduled to headline Country Thunder Wisconsin in Twin Lakes and Country Jam USA in Eau Claire this July. He s also scheduled to headline Country Thunder festivals in Iowa in June, Florida in September and Arizona in October.
