Rocky by-election latest counts shows likely brother-sister councillors

The Rockhampton Division 3 by-election looks to end with a brother-sister councillor result. Grant Mathers, brother of long-standing councillor Cherie Rutherford, appears to be in the lead as counting of the votes for the Rockhampton Regional Council Division 3 by-election continues. The first count was conducted on Saturday night after the election day with 4,629 total votes counted. A total of 7,641 residents were required to vote with around 60 per cent having registered a vote to date. Grant Mathers is in the lead by around 15 per cent, according to the Queensland Electoral Commission website. Speaking on this morning (March 14), Mr Mathers said things were looking very positive and he was feeling good.

Amazon appealing decision by Peel Public Health to close Brampton facility due to COVID-19 outbreak by Lucas casaletto Last Updated Mar 12, 2021 at 6:10 pm EDT Amazon Canada has been ordered to shut down its Heritage Road plant in Brampton, Ont. because of a COVID-19 outbreak – something the retail giant plans to appeal. The order from Peel Public Health forces the closure of all shifts as of midnight Friday requiring all workers to self-isolate for 14 days until March 27. The Peel Public Health investigation determined that high-risk exposure to COVID-19 for everyone at Amazon Heritage cannot be ruled out. Amazon responded, saying they’re seeking a formal review and are concerned this closure will “impact our Canadian customers.”

Last Updated Friday, March 12, 2021 3:44PM EST A large Amazon fulfillment Centre in Brampton has been ordered to cease all operations and all workers must self-isolate as part of an ongoing Peel Public Health investigation into COVID-19 cases inside. Peel Public Health says effective at midnight Friday, the facility at 8050 Heritage Road, north of Steeles Avenue West, must shut down and all workers must self isolate until March 27. “The current public health investigation has determined that high-risk exposure to COVID-19 for everyone working at Amazon Heritage cannot be ruled out,” Peel Public Health said in a statement. “Over the past few weeks, the rate of COVID-19 infection across Peel has been decreasing while the rate inside this facility has been increasing significantly.”
