Surat Thani has in place Samui Plus measures for foreign travellers wanting to visit the province from Thursday onwards.
The government has given permission to open Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao to foreign visitors as part of the Samui Plus model. Tourists will be able to visit the other two islands and explore Koh Samui after a week s stay within the grounds of a Samui hotel.
The province s governor said visitors must avoid areas where there is a high risk of infection for at least 14 days before arrival in Surat Thani. Travellers should also be from a country approved by the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, he said.

Inoculated tourists can start booking for the second reopening destination, Samui Plus, under sealed route programme as the registration for certificate of entry (COE) was opened on Monday.
Ratchaporn Poolsawadee, president of the Tourism Association of Koh Samui, said some minor rules still need to be finalised, such as the cost of a 7-day alternative state quarantine (ALQ) package that should cost 35,000 baht, including swab tests and medical fees.
While many provinces, like Phuket, impose more stringent measures for local travellers, he said Koh Samui will not ask vaccinated travellers to show negative Covid-19 results.
