Aberdeen FC’s community arm helped deliver around £95 million of benefits to the north-east over a 12-month period, a new report has revealed. The AFC Community Trust (AFCCT) – widely hailed across Europe as one of the best examples of a club working to improve outcomes for people in its area – has published an impact report detailing its work over the 2019/20 period. Tens of thousands of people have taken part in the organisation’s activities, which involve working in schools, helping those with conditions such as dementia and working to improve outcomes for those from deprived backgrounds.

Sign Up The worlds of north-east business, charity and sport are mourning the death of “one of life’s genuinely good guys” Duncan Skinner, who has died aged 63. Mr Skinner, who was chairman of the Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust (AFCCT) bravely fought cancer over the past year, and died on Thursday. The Moffat-born chartered management accountant was one of the north-east’s most respected business figures, both for his 35-year career in the oil and gas industry, and for his role in helping to save one of Aberdeen’s longest-established charities.

One glimpse of yellow in the sky, with a bit of warmth, and lots of us are tearing off our semmits and lapping it up. Any thoughts about skin cancer, or Covid? Not a lot, and we probably just forgot there is a pandemic. I think we need to take a reality check because the EU is now totally locked down with Covid cases on the rise. And what about Brazil? They’re having record infections and deaths with the “Brazilian” strain, and we still don’t know how well our current vaccines work against this variant.
