A federal bill that would ban conversion therapy has passed third reading, but Oxford MP Dave MacKenzie and many other Conservative Southwestern Ontario MPs weren’t among the 263 votes in favour.
MacKenzie was one of 63 MPs – 62 Conservative, plus former Conservative-turned-Independent MP Derek Sloan – to vote against the bill Tuesday afternoon.

Bill C-6 bans specific actions related to conversion therapy in Canada and makes it illegal to force a child to undergo conversion therapy or to force an adult against their will. The legislation also makes it illegal to advertise or profit from conversion therapy or to send a minor overseas for this treatment.
