Charges dismissed against Lansing woman accused of embezzling $900,000

ST. JOHNS  A Clinton County judge dismissed embezzlement charges against a Lansing woman that accused her of embezzling nearly $1 million from her elderly father.  Clinton County District Court Judge Michael Clarizio dismissed the charge last week after Elizabeth Peterson s preliminary hearing, where the judge determines if there is enough evidence to move forward with the case.  Peterson was accused of embezzling about $900,000 from her 79-year-old father over the span of seven years, according to DeWitt Township Police Chief Mike Gute.  Gute said charges were dismissed because the judge decided it would be better handled as a civil matter.  Peterson s attorney, Edwar Zeineh, declined to comment. Clinton County Prosecutor Tony Spagnuolo did not respond for comment.
