Anyone who wants a COVID-19 vaccination and hasn’t gotten one yet, here is your opportunity.
The Davidson County Health Department will be holding free, walk-in vaccination clinics all this week. No appointments or insurance is necessary.

These clinics will be at the Health Department at 915 Greensboro St. and can be either first or second doses for participants.
The hours of operation are from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., except on Monday, May 3 the hours will be extended to 6 p.m.
Health Department workers will be administering the Pfizer vaccine during these clinics on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The Moderna vaccine will the available on Wednesday.
Davidson County sees slow down in COVID-19 vaccine appointments

At the beginning of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in December, the Davidson County Health Department filled its weekly appointments within minutes, with many voicing their disappointment of its availability.
This week, representatives from the Davidson County Health Department said they had slots left over.

“It is a combination of hitting the demand, plus there are many more providers in the community,” said Janna Walker, public health specialist at the Davidson County Health Department. “We have hit a place where we have gotten to those who were ready and waiting for a vaccine; now we have to get to the others who may not have been able to get the vaccine due to other issues.”
More vaccine clinics, appointments open across the Triad

GREENSBORO, N.C. More COVID-19 vaccine clinics and appointments have opened in Guilford, Forsyth, and Davidson counties. The additional clinics have opened as the state slowly inches toward herd immunity.
The vaccine clinics have called on yet-to-be-vaccinated individuals to take advantage of the openings and book appointments.
A pop-up vaccine clinic opened in East Greensboro, Monday and will continue on Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. The clinic is located in the parking lot of the Renaissance Shops right off Phillips Avenue.

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. Davidson County Health Department is booking COVID-19 vaccine appointments all this week, and you can choose the brand of vaccine you want by picking the day of the week it is available. Health officials say demand for the vaccine has steadily dropped over the last two weeks, and they have around 900 Pfizer shots available.

Last year, as Davidson County grappled with a global pandemic, it also faced another health crisis the opioid epidemic.
Health care professionals at the county’s two emergency rooms dealt with an increasing number of people who headed to the ER for overdosing on opioids. But last year proved to be much different than years past. The number of overdose visits to the county’s ERs reached its highest in a decade, according to data reported by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
In Davidson County, 196 people were recorded to have visited the county’s two emergency rooms. That’s 16 people overdosing per month, or one person every other day.
