Spiral raises doubts about that statement: It’s the series’ second soft reboot in recent years, and a key question teased in its trailers is whether its grisly puzzle-murders are the work of a copycat, or someone connected to the original killer, John Kramer (Tobin Bell). It wouldn’t be a stretch to assume the latter, given how much the people behind the Saw series care about its sprawling continuity.

The film also features a strong Canadian cast, including Brendan Fletcher ( Braven ), Ryan Robbins (“Sanctuary”), Chad Rook (“Siren”), Leanne Lapp ( iZombie ), Destiny Millns ( BH90210 ) and more. Production for Dangerous was made possible through the Creative Saskatchewan Feature Film Production Grant Program and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit. “Without this Federal Government emergency fund the production would not have moved forward, Producer Kevin Dewalt said in a release. Although we did not access any production financing directly, the program was a backstop like an insurance policy, in case the film was delayed or shut down due to the pandemic.
