The Eden Project in Cornwall plans to restore disused farm buildings on the edge of its site as an increasing number of people are expected to study degrees there. The work would be in order to create a centre for educational programmes to be known as the Emergence Academy. Eden’s ambition centres on the 17th century Restineas Farmhouse and a cluster of buildings surrounding it and would also see a new plant nursery established nearby. Managers have discussed the plans with the Eden Neighbours’ Forum and nearby town and parish councils and a formal application is due to be made to Cornwall Council.

Council s disappointment as funding for £125million Eden Project North omitted from budget The leader of a Lancshire council has expressed her disappointment and frustration after funding for a major new project was omitted from the Chancellor s budget. Funding for Eden Project North, an ambitious new project to develop different cultural assets to boost future creativity, investment, innovation, jobs and prosperity in the area was left out of Rishi Sunak s latest annoucement, with the £70million needed to help fund the project now having to be sourced from elsewhere. Along with the Lake District World Heritage Site, Eden North, which is to be built on the site of the old Bubbles swimming pool on Morecambe promenade, is seen as a key component of a plan to develop the Morecambe Bay Cultural Compact.
