Five years in the making, the enlightening feature documentary BRAZEN HUSSIES, chronicling the Australian Women’s Liberation Movement, will be screening at Bicheno Memorial Hall on Saturday 20th February at 7.30 pm followed by Q&A with Executive Producer, Sue Maslin. This follows the film’s Australian theatrical release in 2020.
BRAZEN HUSSIES introduces contemporary audiences to the Australian second wave feminists, who declared war on ‘male chauvinism’, traditional sex roles and demanded that women be set free from the ‘chains of femininity’. The stars of the legendary show
At The Movies, which ran from 2004-2014, have teamed up with The Shovel to give their very own review of this blessed year that has just gone by, and to make things even more wholesome, they’ve done it in the usual style of their show.
Your average commercial airline pilot is 45. That means most of them grew up acutely aware of the great, now late, Chuck Yeager who passed this week, aged 97.
Yeager was a mountain of a man. His most famous moment was breaking the sound barrier. But that was merely one of his achievements. And what makes Yeager all the more special is that he did it all with the casual demeanour of someone who never lost their cool or perspective. He constantly downplayed his amazing life and when questioned, in that very American way about his special God-given talents, he would pour an almost immediate bucket of cold West Virginian water all over them.
