Underlying profit for the six months to December 31 rose 16 per cent to $US6.03bn ($A7.73bn), while net debt fell 7 per cent to $US11.83bn ($A15.16bn).

Among firms on the FTSE 100 index, 22 chief executives and 23 finance chiefs have walked out the door, a total of 45. The figure is the highest since at least 2002, according to analysis by funds supermarket AJ Bell. The town also boasts three national schools, a secondary school, a crèche, the only Youth Centre outside Limerick City, and sheltered housing catering to some of the older residents.
