Christian Porter has moved to strike out major sections of the ABCâs defence of his defamation claim, and prevent them from becoming public, accusing the public broadcaster of abusing the court process.
The ABC filed its defence on Tuesday, prompting an interlocutory application from Porter for an order to make confidential and strike out sections of the document on the basis they contain material that is either scandalous, frivolous, vexatious, evasive or ambiguous or âare otherwise an abuse of the process of the courtâ.
After a storm of media attention, in early March Porter identified himself as the minister and strenuously denied the allegation.

The first of the stormy night s three tornadoes touched down at 8:39 p.m. in Clemmons, moving northwest for half a mile.
A second hit just minutes later near Poplar Street in Winston-Salem, cutting a swath of devastation more than 10 miles long through Ardmore, Buena Vista and Old Salem.
A third tornado, this one at 8:45 p.m., virtually destroyed a hangar at Smith Reynolds airport and left planes scarred and scattered.
It would be weeks â months or years for some â before anything seemed normal again.
