Philanthropist Robert G. Fuller Jr. has increased his contribution to the project that had been put on hold due to financial challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic and higher than expected costs.

AUGUSTA With the coronavirus pandemic making fundraising for improvements at Cony High School’s Alumni Field unlikely anytime soon, a donor who had already agreed to pay for part of the project has increased his offer.

AUGUSTA City councilors made Dave Groder the city’s new fire chief in a unanimous vote Thursday.
Groder, who most recently served as acting chief and deputy chief of the department, grew up wanting to be a firefighter like his dad Alfred was in Skowhegan. He said becoming fire chief fulfills a lifelong goal. He’s been a firefighter in Augusta since 1988.
“That 33 years is a commitment; 33 years is a quest to climb up through the ranks and get to the top of the ladder, so to speak. I know you’re very proud of that; you should be,” Mayor David Rollins said of Groder becoming chief after 33 years as a firefighter in Augusta.

AUGUSTA A veteran firefighter who has most recently served as Augusta’s acting and deputy chief is the city manager’s choice to lead the fire department.
Dave Groder grew up wanting to be a firefighter, like his dad Alfred was in Skowhegan. Now, he has been appointed as Augusta’s fire chief by City Manager William Bridgeo, an appointment subject to confirmation by the City Council on Thursday.
Colorado State Patrol says there was a 25% decrease in fatal vehicle crashes in Northwest Colorado in 2020.
While Colorado lost over 600 lives in vehicle crashes on state roadways, Northwest Colorado roadways were far safer than most other areas across the state in 2020 and over 25% safer than in 2019 for this same region, according to preliminary data compiled by CSP.
“The data will become finalized in the next couple of weeks, but presently we are seeing a 25.5% reduction in fatalities from vehicle crashes,’ stated Major David Rollins, District 4 Commander for the Colorado State Patrol. “Our primary focus has and always will be creating a safe and secure environment on our highways and local roadways.”
Councilors have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity, being courteous and respectful, promoting civility and being accountable.
